Watch Jean Kilborne’s Killing Us Softly 4 Google….. Jean Kilborne…Killing Us Softly 4 and you will see various trailers and
videos. You can select from them and get the idea of her work.
If the link does not work, you can search YouTube for Killing Us Softly 4. The video is 45 minutes in length. If you are still
unable to find the entire video…..review several of the trailers and you should have enough information to complete the
assignment.
After watching the video, please respond to the following questions:
1) What role does the media play in our understandings of gender expectations?
2) How do you think your own attitudes or understandings of appropriate gender behavior have been
influenced by the media?
3) What do you think can be done to avoid or resist these messages?
