My chosen topic will be on how class and how it has shaped the structure of society. This will also tie into gender as well as race and by extension ethnicity. Every society since the recording of time has had some sort of hierarchy. There have always been lords, masters, and sovereigns. If not temporal rulers there would have been the gentry and the aristocracy. Cast or Class system, someone has been on the top making laws and creating rules. I will wish to explore that in my historiographical research paper. The specific will be on how Class has shaped society, draft a 20-page historiographical essay examining how scholars have advanced and debated the topic. Make sure to:

  1. Analyze the major scholarly contributions and explain how they have influenced/shaped the field. As you do this, remember to identify the thesis of significant works and evaluate how effectively authors used evidence to support their arguments.
  2. Include a discussion of theory and methodology as it relates to their topic. This discussion does not have to be in a separate section from the rest of your analysis but can be if that helps you with organization.
  3. Include a 1-2 page section discussing where the field is headed and suggesting potentially fruitful areas for new research projects (this should be separate from your conclusion).

A formal introduction, conclusion, and bibliography are required. Students should analyze no fewer than 12 scholarly monographs and articles for this assignment.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the Turabian Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
