The American Correctional Association requires performance-based standards that focus  on actual compliance with expected practices. There are seven functional areas as follows: Safety, Security, Order, Care, Program and activity, Justice, and Administration and management.

  • Respond to the following questions for each of the seven functions: 
    • According to the ACA, what are the correctional standards for this function? Explain. 
    • What are the desired conditions that need to be achieved and maintained? Explain.
    • A minimum of 3 desired conditions should be identified and explained for each area above.
