Assessment Description

This program of study leads to becoming a certified professional educator. It is important to understand the professional certification requirements in your state as well as the continuing education requirements to maintain your certification. Education is constantly changing so educators must be prepared to adapt and grow as the profession evolves. Setting professional goals and developing a plan to meet your goals is crucial to support professional growth and being a lifelong learner.

Part 1: Professional Growth Plan Presentation

Create an 8-12 slide digital presentation that can be used to present your plan for professional growth as an educator. Include the following information in your presentation:

  • A brief description of the graduate courses and degree requirements in your program.
  • A brief description of licensure/certification requirements, professional progression requirements in the state in which you plan to teach in, and how licensure/certification will be maintained.
  • Explanation of how you will demonstrate high expectations in your role as an educator, including communication, technology, codes of ethics, professional standards practice, and relevant laws and policies.
  • Explanation of how you will reflect on your teaching practices using a variety of data, including current research, and how this will help to inform instruction and improve student learning.
  • Provide at least two professional learning goals and discuss how you will engage in meaningful experiences within the professional learning community (e.g., professional development, conferences, professional organizations) to meet each learning goal.

Presenter’s notes are required for each content slide. Presentation must include a title slide at the beginning and a reference slide with documentation of resources at the end. The title slide and reference slide do not count in the total number of slides
