PART 1- Module 2- ASSIGNMENT – (VAL)-

Our previous module covered the essence of Christianity, which can be summarized as a commandment to love: love God, love neighbor, and love self. We then spent the bulk of the module examining the religious nature of the human being — that desire for the eternal, the divine — and we examined several reasons to believe in the existence of God. Now, we must return to the content of the commandment itself. What is the love that we are talking about, here? And, can love even be commanded in the first place?

Write a reflection essay answering the following prompt:

Identify at least one aspect from each of the three major topics covered in Module 2 and explain how and why each aspect expanded your horizon. The three major topics were: love, creation, and sin/death.

When constructing your essay, include a brief introduction and a brief conclusion. Structure the body paragraphs of your paper according to the TEAL principle.

See the following for example:

-Body Paragraph #1

·       Topic sentence — clearly express an aspect of love that stood out to you from the lecture material/reading.

·       Evidence — include a quote or a couple of quotes from the material that support what your paragraph is about and what you stated in the topic sentence. Be sure to cite your sources.

·       Analysis — explain what the quote means. Demonstrate that you understand the material. Then, explain why this particular principle expanded your horizon.

·       Link — provide a transition into your next topic.

You should be sure to cite at least three sources (lectures, module content, books, videos) in your essay. Aim for at least one source per topic.

Submission Instructions:

·       The paper is to be clear and concise, and students will lose points for improper grammar, punctuation, and misspelling.

·       Please be sure to engage the reading and properly cite any references to the texts.

·       The paper should be formatted per current CMOS format and 500 words in length, excluding the title page, footnotes, and bibliography.
