1-2 Short Paper: A Global Approach to Ethics

PHL 218 Module One Short Paper Guidelines and RubricOverview

Throughout our lives, we encounter situations that require us to make ethical decisions. Professional ethics can help us make some of these decisions, whereas other decisions require global ethics. This short paper will help you explore the need for global ethical frameworks, along with the benefits they provide.

Directions

In this short paper, you will reflect on why global ethical frameworks are needed. You will then consider the benefits of using an ethical framework as a global approach to the ethical issue of climate change.

You are not required to conduct research for this assignment. Review the Module Guide and required resources for this module for helpful perspectives. You may also find it useful to review the resource in the Supporting Materials section of this assignment. If you refer to any sources in your short paper, remember to follow APA citation guidelines.

Specifically, you must address the following:

  1. Describe the difference between professional ethics and global ethics.
  2. Explain why you think global ethical frameworks are needed.
  3. Describe the benefits of using an ethical framework in the global management of climate change. You may want to review the United Nations Paris Agreement to help answer this question.

What to Submit

Submit your paper as a one- to two-page Microsoft Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. If sources are used, follow APA citation guidelines when citing sources both throughout and at the end of your paper. Although you will not be graded on the quality of your citations in this assignment, you may receive guidance from your instructor on how to properly cite sources.
