ENG 105: Composition I Learning Unit 2: Assignment

Source Integration Assignment

To evaluate your understanding of MLA style documentation, you will practice integrating a source into

a paragraph. For this assignment, please write one developed paragraph (about 7-10 sentences) about

technology. Choose at least one passage from the Turkle essay and integrate this passage into your

paragraph as a quotation.

For this assignment, you will need to use a signal phrase and an in-text citation when you integrate the

source into your paragraph. Please review the assigned reading in the handbook and the mini-lecture on

MLA documentation for more information about using the in-text citation and the signal phrase

appropriately.

Remember that you must use a quotation to help you support and inform your discussions. Thus, you

may not simply choose any quote and drop it into your paragraph. Work to make a clear connection

between your discussion and the quotation.

Evaluation

This assignment is worth 15 points. You will be graded on the following:

 The paragraph is clear and developed.

 The paragraph is free of distracting mechanical errors.

 The quotation supports the paragraph’s discussion.

 The quotation has an appropriate signal phrase and an accurate in-text citation.
