Imagine that you are working with a client who is experiencing opioid use disorder. During one family session, the client’s mother becomes frustrated and says to the client, “Why won’t you just stop?” Using your new knowledge on substance use/misuse and the brain, consider what you would say in response.Record and post a 2- to 3-minute video in which you respond to the mother’s question about “just stopping” using opioids. In your video, be sure to:  Describe the impact of substance use/misuse on the brain. 

Explain the implications in terms of the client’s ability to “just stop” using. 
Use professional and plain language to communicate.
