Mississippi School Funding: Read the three files below regarding the Ed Build report on how Mississippi funds education and the tax levy breakdown for each district in Mississippi. After reviewing the documents, please provide a response to the following:

1. Summarize the funding approach for Mississippi (MAEP) as described by the Ed Build Executive Summary.

2. Share your thoughts and “a-ha” moments regarding the MS 27% rule discussed in the Executive Summary.

3. Compare the impact and difference between the Oxford Schools and the Clinton Schools regarding the 27% rule. (See the Ed Build 27% rule pdf below).

4. Ed Build was brought in by the MS state legislature to propose a new approach to state funding  to replace the current MAEP formula. What do you think state legislators realized from the Ed Build report that caused them to not adopt the Ed Build recommendations? (click the link to watch video explaining 27% rule)

5. Tax Levy per District – Using the same example as Biloxi vs Gulfport, compare the operational millage and amount of money generated between the Oxford Schools and Columbus Schools. Each district has approximately 4,000 students.
