Feedback from instructor (find your own topic on google scholar)

Hi, Thad.
You should pick a published academic article that aligns with something interesting to you. The textbook references a lot of articles, for example, throughout the chapters. Your theory matrix also includes the “major thinkers” on a particular topic. So, the first place to look is at articles that are referenced in the textbook, read one of those, and write the summary. Even better, though, would be to find your own source on a topic of interest to you using a resource like
scholar.google.com. Say that you are interested in women’s leadership in sports. You would then enter that search into google scholar and see what comes up. You’d review the articles, find one (ideally newer than 2015) and read it. You’d then provide the summary of that article. I recommend this second pathway.

The big idea is that you are building your own “database knowledge” on a leadership topic that is relevant to you. One core idea that separates graduate school from undergraduate is that you, yourself, should be researching and investigating things interesting to you whereas in undergrad you were told what to do. Now it’s your turn to begin crafting your own thinking.

If you have doubts about the article you pick, please ask me before you do the work of reviewing it.
