EDL 791 What is a Learning Community?

Use the information in Chapter 1 &2 of the text, and the articles “One Step at a Time” and “Seven Stages of a PLC and create a media presentation that you might present to teachers on the topic “What is a Learning Community?” The presentation should address the following broad areas:

  • What is a learning community?
  • What are the characteristics of a learning community and how are they defined?
  • What is the role of the learning community in an age of accountability? Your text addresses NCLB. You must do the research to update the information for ESSA, be specific in what it requires and include that information in the presentation.
  • What are the seven stages of a PLC?

Be creative. The sky is the limit. You may use PowerPoint, Prezi, YouTube video, and any other media tools to create this presentation. However, you must include at least one video source as a part of the presentation (Youtube video, etc.) Make sure that the link functions properly before submission.

The rubric for this assignment provides further clarity on specific expectations for this assignment. Use scholarly sources throughout the presentation. Cite these sources within the presentation and at the end of the presentation (Provide a References section.) Use APA 7th edition format.
