Paragraph one:  How do you envision using the lessons learned from your change project as a baccalaureate-prepared nurse?

As a baccalaureate-prepared nurse, I envision using what I’ve learned from my change project to enhance both my current and future nursing practice. I am now more prepared to research evidence-based practices and apply them to practice. I now understand the importance of having evidence to back up any proposed improvements or changes in client care as well as the amount of detail that goes into this. Prior to the change project, I didn’t give much thought to the work that accompanies changes in policy or nursing practice. However, I now understand that it takes an interdisciplinary team to execute such changes and make them successful. Moving forward, I intend to recognize a problem and search for a solution utilizing what I’ve learned about quantitative and systematic reviews as well as interdisciplinary teams and cost analysis.

Paragraph two: Examine the following program outcomes. Select one and reflect on how your learning in the course assisted in helping to achieve that outcome.

It has shown me the benefit of participation in professional organizations and has encouraged me to join committees within my nursing unit. Ultimately, it is my responsibility to grow and develop both personally and professionally.

Paragraph three:  Examine the following competencies from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials. Select one and reflect on how the course assisted in achieving that competency.

·
5.1: Apply quality improvement principles in care delivery.

This course taught me the importance of identifying a problem and finding a solution that is backed by evidence-based practice. The change project helped me to understand how to take the solution and apply it to nursing practice in a realistic way. This course highlighted the process of implementing improvements in care delivery to clients through identifying an interdisciplinary team and performing a cost analysis, two things that are essential in order to implement a change in nursing practice in the real world.”
