After reading Chapter 3 in They Say/I Say read this What is Synthesis Guide I created. You will practice introducing, explaining and synthesizing quotes. Use the templates on pgs. 47-48 to practice this skill. 

Complete the following exercise:

You may respond to question 1 OR 2

  1. Choose a quote from “Brainology” introduce the quote and then practice synthesis by connecting it to a quote from Thinking in Pictures that looks at Grandin’s experiences as an example of a growth or fixed mindset. Write at least one paragraph that synthesizes the 2 sources.
  2. Choose a quote from “The Childhood Roots of Adult Happiness” and then a quote or example from Thinking in Pictures. Write a paragraph that shows the connection between the two sources (synthesizes).
