HUM 102 Module Five Project Draft Guidelines and RubricOverview

Congratulations! You are three-quarters of the way through the course and your project is almost completed! At this stage, you have learned how creative works are components of the humanities, how diverse perspectives add value to works, how bias and assumptions can influence how you view creative works, and the importance of empathy. For this assignment, you will reflect on how individuals make sense of their identities through the humanities. You will consider the visual arts, the literary arts, and the performing arts, and you will describe the relationship between the humanities and self-identity.

Before working on this assignment, consult the Project Guidelines and Rubric and read the scenario provided. The scenario provides the background for your work on the project.

Directions

For your Module Two project proposal, you drafted the first two components of Part One of your project. In Module Four, you analyzed two creative works and completed Part Two of the project. Now, for this assignment, you will draft Part Three of the project.

Part Three: Identity and the Humanities

In this section, you will reflect on how the humanities influence understanding of self-identity. Specifically, you must address the following:

  1. Describe the relationship between the humanities and self-identity.
    1. How do creative works impact the way people view themselves?
  2. Describe sociocultural factors that influence identity construction.
    1. How do sociocultural factors such as ethnicity, race, religion, and sexuality influence one’s identity?
  3. Explain how different humanities subject areas can be used to understand one’s identity.
    1. Consider the relationship between the different humanities subject areas (literary, visual, and performing arts) and identity.
  4. Explain how diverse perspectives influence self-concept.
    1. Consider examples of diverse perspectives discussed in this course.
    2. Consider one to three perspectives other than your own that influence self-concept.

To complete this assignment, you must submit the following:

Submit your completed Module Five Project Draft Template for grading. While sources are not required for this assignment, you may want to reference some of the course resources from this week’s module. If sources are used, they should be cited according to APA style. While you will not be graded on the quality of your citations in this assignment, you may receive guidance from your instructor on how to properly cite sources. Keep in mind that you will also need to cite at least two sources for your completed project.

Although Brightspace allows the addition of video notes in assignment submissions, you may not use the Video Note tool to complete this assignment.
