Instructions

We will focus on Anne Bradstreet’s poem, “Verses upon the Burning of Our House, July 10th, 1666.” Write a response of 400-700 words that addresses the tension between Bradstreet’s attachment and love for her home (lost in the fire) and her faith. Provide evidence for both sides of this tension. In other words find, quote, and analyze lines that speak to her attachment to the home. Do the same for lines that address her faith (her faith makes it a sin to hold to things of this world, like material objects). Does the poem resolve this tension? If so, how? Most of your response should be based upon your analysis of and reflection upon the lines you cite.

Please also reference lecture, other’s students’ comments on the poem (from the annotations), and also possibly from the video on

Bradstreet. As always, any evidence of substantial use of generative Al will result in a zero.

please see attached pdf to do the assignment and please don’t use know other sources other then the pdf you choose thank you
