Assignment Details

1) Read the attached case. Stop at the teaching note on page 9.

2) Analyze this case using the following model:

a. Summary of facts and problem statement

b. Best practices framework

c. Suggest goals / actions and potential challenges

d. Leadership takeaway

Your written analysis should be about 6-8 pages in length and be written from the POV
of a “consultant” who has been asked to advise the administrative team at the school.

Additional Guidance

1) Keep the summary brief and focused on the fact that most closely align with the
problem. Develop a problem statement. What is the real issue? This will help you to
remain focused.

2) Make sure the best practices framework is based upon the literature. What have
other schools done with success? Be sure to consider the culture and climate of the
school and community. This section should serve as the foundation on which the goals
and actions section is built.

3) Identify do-able goals and actions that should be the next steps for the leadership
team. What are potential challenges that they should be prepared to face as they
implement the goals?

4) What leadership lesson can you take away from this analysis that can be added to
your leadership toolbox for future reference?
